Hi all,

I am Shreeya! I will be using this space to share my experiences that I cannot fit in my one-page resume.

I am sharing the following passages that I wrote about two years ago to let you know the person I am.

The person I am today is because of the times I spent with my parents and the city I grew up in.

My mother taught me gratitude and hard work. She never got an opportunity to get a formal education, but she understands the power of it. She joined evening classes, which was specially designed for uneducated women to teach them how to read and write in Nepali. My mother worked all day in the field and studied at night. She would always tell me that not everyone is as fortunate as I am and to make the most out of the opportunities I have.

My father is a leader and a change maker. I learned the importance of thoughts and the power of words from him. Unlike most of his contemporaries, my father believes in educating women and freedom of choice. I grew up watching him fight against traditions like Kamalari (bonded labour system), caste systems and untouchables and menstrual taboos. Even at home, he would challenge the norms and bend the rules to teach his two little girls that they are as important as their brother. Having faced several difficult family and financial situations from an early age of ten, my father believes that problems arise to test one’s integrity and self-confidence. He ensured that I received the best education, opportunities, and guidance possible.

The city of Kathmandu taught me to accept differences, celebrate another person, and be a little happy and colorful like it’s happy hippe streets. Our roads are far from perfect but always led us where we needed to be. The narrow streets decorated with prayer flags and smiles of people passing by, Kathmandu is a beauty. In all its chaos, its peace and calm to my heart.

Today, I am grateful for the love, life, and the infinite sky that this world, especially my city and my parents, have offered me. And, if you know me personally, you must have heard me scream “I am Love, I am Life, and I am The Infinite Sky” a countless number of times. Honestly, I believe that in all of us, we have the ability to love another person, give back to another life, and dream infinite possibilities and fill up the infinite sky.

YOU ARE LOVE, YOU ARE LIFE, YOU ARE THE INFINITE SKY!

Keep loving and sharing!
